Awards and Recognitions Given to Bharathidasan:

  • Bharthidasan was given the title “Puratchi Kavignar”/Revolutionary Poet and “Paavendar”/Emperor of Poems
  • Golden Parrot Prize for his play “Amaithi Oomai” in the year 1946
  • Sahitya Academy Award (Posthumously) in the year 1970 for his play ‘Pisiranthaiyar’
  • The Government of India released a commemorative stamp of Bharathidasan on 9th October 2001.
  • A State University in Tiruchirappalli, Tamilnadu has been named “Bharathidasan University”
  • Many roads in Tamilnadu are named after Bharathidasan.
  • The Tamilnadu Government awards “Bharathidasan Award” annually to a Tamil Poet.
